Abstract: As the demand for more environmentally‐friendly energy resources grows, energy providers have recognized the importance of wind power and have invested in the development of wind turbines. Among the different renewable energy production alternatives, wind farms are a profitable economic solution with promising future ahead. At the same time these group wind tower can be a social friendly solution if they solve challenging demands from the society such as integration in landscape, aesthetic, low nuisances. The use of wind energy is increasing rapidly and the worldwide wind capacity has exceeded the 300GW milestone in 2013 and 435 GW in 2015. Decreasing number of prime sites with high wind availability and good access, coupled with increasing demand for higher power output has increased the need to use taller towers with longer blades especially in less windy sites. The tower is most important component of wind turbine system, having 30% cost is required to construct tower. For that purpose the optimization of wind turbine tower in required. Previous studies are carried out on low height and regular material wind turbine tower. Also the cost is high. In this study the optimization of tower is carries, it includes various types of cross sections are consider, different types of material are consider. From that analysis the optimum cross section and material are obtain. By using ASCE-7-05, Massachusetts State Building Code and IS 800-2016 the analysis part is done. The models are creating in STAAD Pro. and ANSYS software and analyze. The dead load and wind force are provided. From that analysis the lattice tower has minimum cost.
