Abstract: | The demand for electricity is getting increased day by day and it is very important to meet this demand by proper utilization of electricity. The major amount of electricity is utilized for the building cooling and heating purpose. Different methods of reducing the electric consumption for cooling and heating of building are studied. This research presents an energy efficient method of air conditioning by using air blower along with window air conditioner (WAC). Here, a computational fluid dynamic (CFD) analysis is performed to see the effect of configuration of inlet and outlet vents of air on the temperature distribution and the velocity distribution to achieve the comfort for the occupant. Fluent is used as solution tool and Reynolds stress models for turbulence flow were used for the analysis. Different locations of inlet and outlet vents of air are considered and it is seen that the occupant will experience comfort with configuration I. Experimental analysis is also carried out. Air blower is used to supply fresh cool air inside the room through air distribution assembly. This system is used at night time when the indoor temperature is usually higher than the outdoor temperature. Further, this system is integrated with the WAC and is used for entire day. The switching of air blower and WAC is accomplished with the help of control system. The required temperature is been set in the control system at which either air blower or WAC will work. It was observed that, the integrated system of air blower and WAC is 42.30% energy efficient. |
