Abstract: | Automotive industries require number of parts to assemble the engine on assembly line. The space requirement for such parts storage is huge so as to utilize space efficiently racking storage system is used. This increase a storage capacity helps to store these components. The rack system can be assembled as single or double deep racks. The height of building helps to utilize more space vertically rather than extension of a building. The increases in number of levels are utilizes more space. A storage location for these parts is one major task faces by warehouse manager during refurbishment of existing facility. There are many factors which affect storage assignment policy such as order picking method, size and layout of storage system, demand trends and space requirements. The dedicated storage assignment policy is helpful and which is used to solve the problem. These dissertation have aim to make development for adding new gear box parts in existing warehouse preferably and then necessary development in storage area. A decision making Analytical hierarchy process (AHP) tool for warehouse storage locations in developed areas of warehouse is used. Witness software is used for the simulation of warehouse to improve order picking. The layout of the warehouse is drawn by using the Auto-Cad software. This provides information about changes occurred in the plant layout and warehouse layout during development. Dedicated based storage systems for some parts are implemented for standardize those locations. |
