Abstract: | Cummins India Limited, Pune has taken up a program on R&D activities for Bharat stage IV. To control the Oxides of nitrogen and particulate matter form exhaust gases from engine company has decided to developed engine with Exhaust gas recirculation system and meet the government norms of Bharat stage V. In diesel engines, it is highly desirable to reduce the amount of NOx in the exhaust gas. NOx formation is a highly temperature dependent phenomenon and it takes place when the combustion chamber exceeds 2000oF. Therefore, in order to keep the peak combustion temperature under control. One efficient way for ensuring this is by Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler is an air-to-liquid heat exchanger device that uses engine coolant to reduce exhaust gas temperatures prior to recirculating them through the engine's intake system. EGR reduces engine combustion temperature, which prevents the formation of Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) pollutants. Exhaust gas recirculation cooler bracket is an important component in the Exhaust gas recirculation system. It can support the engine and transmission assembly on the body frame. On the one hand, it supports power assembly device; on the other hand, it isolates vibration between power assembly and body frame. So, high strength properties are essential for EGR. Due to packaging constraint, current Exhaust Gas Recirculation cooler bracket has not provision to support Gear Shifting Lever mechanism of current engine program application. Hence, as per customer’s requirement Exhaust Gas Recirculation cooler bracket will be designed to support Exhaust Gas Recirculation cooler as well as Gear Shifting Lever mechanism. |
