Abstract: Computer simulation of casting processes has advanced significantly within just a few years. The demand for precisely designed, cheap, and perfectly made is constantly growing. Moreover, the competition in the market is rising every day the components manufacturers want to keep their position in the market; they are moving towards learning how to make use of modern simulation programs. Therefore, computer programs have been invented to enable designers to take control over liquid metal behavior and help to eliminate defective parts, especially shrinkage porosity defects inside the casts. Various simulation software having Finite Element Method (FEM) or the Fire Difference Method (FDM) such as AUTOCAST, SOLIDCAST, PROCAST, Magma, etc. are used today. An attempt has been made here to remove casting defects and optimization to get a better yield. Here, simulations are to be made to determine optimal casting conditions, in terms of validity and reliability. The purpose of this study is how crucially the advanced simulation programs can be used to solve casting problems.
